I guess they all have their place. I could use an EV to travel daily, but I can buy close to a lifetime of diesel for the price of one of those gems. Nothing like pulling on the the interstate towing 6,500lbs and being able to get around like your driving around wal-mart parking lot.

IC or electric I'll never share my ride.

Really...how many people, on a day-to-day basis, drive over 100 miles per day? I would guess relatively low.
Unless you live in a state that still has some wide open spaces! We can put 180 miles round trip on our diesel during the winter checking our herd on their winter range. We do that 3-4 times a week, late November thru mid-April. From June to Mid-Nov we only have a round trip of 60 miles to get to town for supplies.

I believe a soundtrack has already been developed. How anti-climatic is that though? There are a lot of people that drive over 50 miles a day.

Buy I just can't get past the Hmmmmmmmmmmmm vs. the sound of a well tuned I/C engine with a low rumbling exhaust.
I agree..there's just something to be said for a vehicle that roars to life when you turn the key, purrs (loudly) while you are cruising and forces you to readjust the stereo when you open it up on the highway!

Not to mention needing that extra power to bust through snowdrifts and pull you through the mud holes that are sometimes all in a days work for us (reminds me of Mother's Day 2009... )

Right, but remember you are the minority. Most live in metropolitan areas were we could really argue if they NEED a vehicle in the first place. A 100-mile-per-day commuter vehicle would be perfect for those that need their independence. We may see hybrid trucks pulling loads, similar to locomotives, but would rarely (if ever) run on strictly battery power.

Hybrids will be around a long time, filling that gap between fully ICE and fully electric. I feel all that holding the shift back is battery technology.

Default It's a generational thing

I really think that if the battery technology catches up, and the infrastructure is in place, and there is a cost savings, and if it proves to really be green technology vs. what Al Gore and his buddies are saying, that future generations will embrace it because it will become more and more mainstream. But for those of us that were raised, want, and need, loud, earth-rumbling, gasoline-fed, raw horsepower...well, let's just say EV's are not our preference at this time

I think if that if "those of us that were raised, want, and need, loud, earth-rumbling, gasoline-fed, raw horsepower" were to drive an electric car you might be surprised and even a little embarrassed at just how much you would like them. Yeah, they are quiet...too quiet, but having all that torque immediately will be very pleasing.

Granted...this car probably won't be the grocery getter.

Drove them before...not surprised...but was embarassed...to be seen driving one I guess some will like them some won't. Torque without sound just doesn't cut it for me. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. I'm sure sometime in the future there will be a place for EV's, and many people will own one...just not me.

I remember when the electric lawnmowers came out...haven't seen many of those lately. I do have a 24V weed wacker...does that count for something?
