    Hi Sal,

Yes they are definitely an enthusiastic bunch of young Texans. They love what they do so much and they always let it show where ever they go; right down to ten gallon hats and cheering. Being from New England originally, I've learned that it really is true what they say about Texas. Everything IS bigger!! And that includes personality, enthusiasm, and hats

Hey Miss Jen! Welcome to another fellow Texan!
I loved seeing the big group from Texas as well, but the weird thing is that none of my local school districts have Skills programs going on that I can find! I've been trying to figure out a way to start something in my area, but it's not as easy as it sounds.
I'm sorry I'm just now saying this, but thanks guys for your wonderful comments. I was still "riding the Skills wave" and I did my best not to gush on about how wonderful the Competition was, but it's pretty difficult not to. I've come away with a lot to ponder over, I can tell you!

    Teach,

All you'd need is 10 students to start a chapter, from my understanding, they all don't need to be from the same school. Maybe do like that CSI Advisor did, she picked the subject (Skills has so many catagories to choose from) then got the students to join (kind-a like starting a forensics club) and then "opened" a Skills Chapter. I think the students pay like $8.00 to join. See what you can do!

    Hi Miss Kathy,
It's great to see a fellow Texan here As far as local groups in North Dallas, unfortunately I can't tell you much about North Dallas; I am in the Fort Worth area. The SkillsUSA Texas site has LOTS of info in regards to state specific items and events. If you are already familiar with this web site, then disregard my babbling. In the meantime, here is a link of all the local clubs (I am not clear if these are SKILLS programs or not) according to school districts for the state: http://www.skillsusatx.org/localclu.php . We have a couple around this neck of the woods, so there must be some in North Dallas. If not, let's definitely start one. Maybe contacting the Teacher Adviser for the Dallas District would be a beginning. Let me know if I can be of any help! I would love to work with you on it!
