This gazebo sits in the town where I live. The Lincoln Highway runs through the center of downtown.
We have the bronze marker right downtown as it says. And there are signs clearly marking the Lincoln Highway along its route through Geneva. In 1928, Boy Scouts placed 3,000 markers at every mile across the coast-to-coast Lincoln Highway. But less than two dozen of those markers remain in Illinois.
The markers are cast in concrete with a bronze head of President Abraham Lincoln. The gazebo is one of Geneva’s markers on the historic highway.
