Thanks for posting another charming story from Mrs. Rowe.
Thanks, Shari. Mrs. Rowe's blogs are one of the highlights here at mrW.
Peggy, you needed to go another 150 miles north or west to find the cowboys.
When I finally get to go back to Pennsylvania I won't be taking those "nice" interstate highways. I like the little roads better anymore.
She really was ahead of her time. The car was not air conditioned either so you had the wind and dust blowing around too. I doubt that would bother a 10 year old but it must have made the trip even harder. All on what we now consider back roads. My grandparents told me a lot of stories about their travels back then. I remember one was about my grandfather having 30 flat tires driving between Bonners Ferry and Spokane because there was a truck hauling nails somewhere ahead of him and it was losing them all over the road. Back then you took the tire off, patched it yourself and pumped it back up with one of those old bicycle pump things, put the tire back on and continued on your way.
Thanks for the blog Mrs. Rowe.
Lovely blog, as always. I don't think I would want to make a trip like that without my husband... or at least a friend!
Mrs. Rowe's mom is one brave woman.
I love looking at old pictures. I wish I can go back in time and see how life was during the olden days when things seem more simpler.
