I hear that Newt is going to announce getting out of the race next week. Why wait? Mitt's being the Rep. candidate has been a forgone conclusion now for several weeks. I have no idea why Newt has hvng on for so long.

Mitt can give a great speech, he just doesn't say anything. All I have heard from him, is how he wants to take things away from the middle class and poor. Cut, cut cut. When you are in a family and are having hard times, everyone needs to try to work and bring in more money. You can only cut so far. Let's hear how Mitt will bring in more money, without cutting the heck out of everything. He doesn't want higher taxes, so there you are. What I don't understand, is why most of the people here are for this kind of thinking, when it will hurt you, your relatives or your future income. Makes no sense, unless all of you are of that 1% and don't have to worry about money at all.

Yeah, he was to cut taxes even more for those in the much higher incomes. Raise taxes on the lower incomes. Cut the Pell Grants for college in half (170 billion dollars) and raise the interest rates on the college loans. But he is all for the education........sure! And I cannot forget he is for that Personhood madness that could not only outlaw abortion but also hormonal forms of contraception.

I don't know why he's waiting either. I guess it was pretty obvious from the beginning who was going to win the nomination - whether by vote or default. Romney needs a strong VP. Dennis Miller was on Bill O' Reilly talking about it and appealed to Rubio to do the right thing because we need him. I totally agree. I love DM. I want to go see him and O'Reilly together in person.

Because being on a losing ticket can hurt your own chances of winning the nomination in a future election. These guys think they will have a better chance of winning four years from now when there is no incumbent to run against. They don't really think Romney is going to win this election.

So true, Hon. This topic has been bandied about several times this week on Morning Joe. The consensus is that Rubio is just too young and cannot appeal to the right enough to help Romney win this thing. Jeb Bush or Rob Portman would give Romney the biggest boost.
