Did anyone watch last night? I thought it was very good.

I was particularly impressed with Pawlenty, Santorum, and Cain. Ron Paul made some very good points, but I didn't agree with his position on several issues and I don't think Johnson got as much air time so I really couldn't make up my mind about him.

After hearing what the people of South Carolina had to say about it, I agree that the "bigger" Republican names made a mistake by not showing up. But I think people are ready for a fresh, new face coming from the GOP anyway.

I think Santorum is more electible than anyone I've seen so far.

Santorum seemed a little angry but I liked him. Who isn't angry once they figure out what the national debt means to future generations. Was he the guy who got too aggressive with Hillary in a debate, dooming his last run? (that was rather amusing, like Hillary can't handle it) Herman Cain was good, wasn't he? I like him. Isn't it Pawlenty who voted for Cap and Trade? That's like the titanic around his neck, just as Romneycare is to Mitt. Ron Paul is too much of an isolationist. Nice man but as one person said, he wants the world to go away. Then we will live in a nice little paradise of our own and pretend that what happens outside the USA doesn't matter. Doesn't work that way.

I think it is a little early for the debates, people get sick of the eteranal campaigns that go on for over a year. Of course I'm a political junkie so I enjoy them.

Oh, get Johnson out of there. I didn't like him at all.

I like Santorum A LOT. I didn't think he was angry but passionate. Also, I thought he had a very likeable personality. I read something this morning about him that I agree with as well - he was presidential. You can tell he's a leader and the American people are craving leadership. I think Pawlenty's answer in response to William's question regarding the cap&trade was a little weak. But did you hear how Santorum responded to Williams when asked about the feminism thing? It was excellent and left no room for argument. I knew exactly what he meant from that quote too and he's absolutely correct. I liked Herman Cain, but when he was asked about foreign policy, he didn't seem to have any answers; and he kept counting to four for some reason.. But he did make great points on other issues that I agree with.

Ron Paul was a little too raw for me. Not very likeable IMHO.

Oh my gosh, me too! Love em - I could watch one every night.

Yeah, there's something there I don't find very appealing.

I didn't watch the entire debate, my AC started leaking water in the closet because an old pipe cracked so I needed to do an emergency repair. Actually I held the flashlight while my husband fixed it. I missed some interesting stuff.

Did you see Juan William's face when 4 people raised their hands and said they would use enhanced interrogation when necessary? He looked like he couldn't believe he had to sit there with those heathens on the stage. Hahahaha, cracked me up.

Well I'm glad to hear you got it fixed. This is not the season for your AC to stop working...

Ha! Yes, that was great. And they all got approval from the crowd. Take a hint, JW!

I think there's a full coverage video in the link I posted if you have time to check it out later.

    Good evening Loretta.

Yes, even after Sunday, I'm saying this "stuff."

And you're right - I will not be satisfied until BO is out of office.

I like what Gov Pawlenty said last night:

During the first debate of the 2012 election season, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty congratulated Obama for capturing the world's most wanted terrorist nearly 10 years after the Sept. 11 attacks.

"I tip my cap to him in that moment," he said. "But that moment is not the sum total of America's foreign policy...
    Here's what Sen Santorum said:

Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum said the only thing Obama has done right in his foreign policy is continue President George W. Bush's policies.

"The decision he made with Usama bin Laden was a tactical decision," he said. "It wasn't a strategic decision. The strategic decision was made by President Bush to go after him. What President Obama has done on his watch, the issues that have come up while he's been president, he's gotten it wrong strategically every single time."
I completely agree with both statements. Bush kept us safe his entire presidency, thereby keeping his word, but those who did not support him were not satisfied either, no matter what good he did or how hard he worked to protect them. He took a stand for this country and fulfilled the oath he took. But did he get credit for that? Nope. "You" weren't happy till his terms were up. The media did not let up and he was constantly made fun of and disrespected. So why should we be required to be satisfied with a man we do not support as president?

Wait a minute. Is Obama doing the job he was elected to do? I sure do not hope people think just because he ok'ed the attack that killed Bin Laden that means he is the best president we ever had. He needs to start do his job now that he doesn't have to worry about the war.

I totally agree with what you're saying, but really, he should have been doing his job from the beginning.

Sorry, but the biggest attack in the US happened under Bush's watch. I would not say that he kept us safe! He is on tape saying he gave up on looking for bin Laden. You expected a new President to come in and get us back on the rails immediately. It took your President a few years to fritter away the surplus he was left with, but you want this one to take care of business with the snap of fingers. In case you don't realize it, bin Laden almost won. His goal was to bring us down financially and he darn near did it. Thank goodness we have a man in the White House with some smarts, to get us out of this hole that has been dug.
