    Smile Eagle Scout Letter

Great letter. My son achieved the rank of Eagle Scout this spring. I'll be sending an envelope. You might want to correct your letter though. You have "staring in the school play". You need another 'r' in 'staring' unless you were 'staring' and not 'starring'. Thought you might want to correct that. Elaine

Thanks MaDirt - the "star[r]ing in the school play" comment was from a post Mike wrote to a kid considering whether or not to continue with scouting. The letter he sends to an Eagle Scout is attached as a pdf to that first post in this thread.

BTW - Mike goes so far in his adherence to "live with what you write", that he prefers that we do not correct his spelling errors in his posts. Me? I prefer to fix my typos as fast as I can catch 'em!

Okay, then both letters are good. I have got to slow down and read instead of scan. Thanks for the reply--yes typos (misspelling) bother me.

    Obviously someone got the calling.
Check out this incredible accomplishment by Eagle Scout Shawn Goldsmith, in "local boy makes good" story:

Shawn's badges are remarkably reminiscent of MIKE'S resume.

I received my Eagle 11 years ago, and this letter still speaks to me, even at my advanced age of 28. Call it selfish of me, but I'm sending this thing in; it's a great way to remind myself not to rest on my laurels.

Mike, thanks for your outlook and your time.

As a mother of 2 boys in Scouting and a " scouting mom" to several others, I thank you for a wonderful letter. My oldest has his Star and is currently working on Life and there are times that he just doesn't want to do it. I have to admit, that I'm tired of doing scouts too, but it is the long range goals that keep me personally continuing on. It isn't easy taking the harder road but the rewards from doing so are plentiful. We shared your letter to our Cub Scouts (most are in 3rd grade) and of course, they all adore you and think you are the coolest. We look forward to your shows a great deal, while I can't handle some of the really icky ones, my boys, including my husband, love it. Thank you again for just being you. Here's to a wonderful year to you and your family and crew.
