The show highlights the hard working men and women in America who aren’t afraid to get dirty and who make civilized life possible for the rest of us. On the show Mike gives their dirty job a go and is basically an apprentice for a day. Mike has done at least one dirty job in every state of America. He has worked over 300 dirty jobs on the show so far.
However, this years production of the show takes on a new twist, as Mike and the Dirty Jobs crew take the show international.
The first country on their agenda was Australia .
They recently filmed several segments of the show there and highlighted local places and people. Mike and the crew filmed segments in Adelaide, Coober Pedy (located in outback South Australia) and in other states across the country.
These episodes of Dirty Jobs (international) with Mike Rowe will air later this year in the US and a few months later on the Discovery Channel in Australia.
When Mike and the shows producer, Dave Barsky were asked why they chose Australia, they said it was something they had talked about for a long time and had always wanted to take the show there. Mike said he liked Australian’s laid back way of life. He also said the city of Adelaide was a very nice place to be.
It is rumored that the show may also travel to China and Italy.
As well as being the host of Dirty Jobs, Mike Rowe is busy with his non profit organization, mikeroweWORKS which brings attention to America’s widening skills gap. www.mikeroweworks.com

Yes, I would love a mp3 of The Road to Coober Pedy. Would make a great tune for the road. Funniest episode I have seen in a while. Can’t wait for the next season. England perhaps?
I loved this episode. Too funny. I would also like to have that song. Or at least have it on YouTube. My brother and I quote it all the time…

We can’t wait to see the footage.
Alison, I love the fact that Mike is never too proud to laugh at his mistakes and that he doesn’t care if he succeeds only that he gives his best. It is his good hearted nature that always brings me back. I look forward to seeing this season of Dirty Jobs with great anticipation and admiration for the work that you and everyone put into it. Your friend, Shannon.
