Mike Rowe has taken on some pretty disgusting jobs through his years as the host of “Dirty Jobs” (Tue., 9 p.m. ET on Discovery). Most of them are jobs that nobody imagined they would do or wanted to do when they were kids. In fact, kids probably don’t even realize most of them exist as jobs.
But this week, he got to take on one of those dream jobs that a lot of kids think they want to be. He got to hang with the paleontologists as they dug up fossils. He did still get to get his hands dirty, pitching in with the 100-year old technique of using Plaster of Paris with burlap to protect the fossils in the field.
When the three men were working in close proximity, covering their find with the burlap pieces, Rowe made a sudden pop culture connection. “It’s almost too interactive for three dudes,” he said. “We’re like one click away from that scene from ‘Ghost.’”
