We think the camera adds quite a bit more than 10 pounds. What do you you think??

    1. Mike,

Thanks for taking the time to come and speak to us Scouts at the Jamboree. You were the best part of that campfire show.

    2. Mike,
The day after the show, me and my friend were going around subcamp 14 trying to finish up a patch set. We were on our way out, and I kid you not, I looked to my right and said,”Andrew, you’re not gonna believe this.” “What?” “Look over there (point).” A group of scouts were playing “Swing the Thing”, and we looked just in time to watch a kid get hit and fall on his behind. We could not stop laughing.

    3. Mike,

You touched a lot of boys with your speech. Particularly the part where you stated you weren’t the most athletically gifted, nor the fastest, nor the smartest, etc. What they heard is what many feel about themselves – that they don’t measure up to their peers. However, your self description and subsequent success proves to them that scouting, in some small way, may have made the difference between what you were that first troop meeting and where you are today.

      Thanks,

      John

I was at the show and you were GREAT!!
Your Stories were the best. You could have talked for 2 hours more and the boys would have loved it!!

      Great Job!!

    9. I’m happy to see you in any form. My 10 year old hero of my life, my youngest son, died New Years Day. Mr. Rowe, (even though I’m about your age…I’m southern and mannered) I can’t tell you how much you meant to my son. I’ve been sitting and crying as I watch the dirty job shark marathon. You were Stone’s hero and he never missed one of your shows…I cry watching them in reruns I realized today. He even loved hearing you as a spokesman. I remember him squealing “Mom! Mike Rowe is doing the talking for the Ford commercials now!” My son was a child that gave away all his presents at Christmas and worked for what money he could. He was recognized in 2008 by the news and local magazines for the good deeds he had been doing. He was totally unfazed. This boy loved you and your shows…he said you were real. A little laugh to end this. Stone got excited when he saw dirty jobs was coming on as we checked into a hotel room coming back to Louisiana from Utah. He turned it on…and it was the one where you were taking testicles out of a horse. He was disgusted and laughing at the same time. You taught him much and dirty jobs and deadliest catch were two of the very few shows he never missed. He admired you and found you amazing. Thank you for all you unknowingly did for my beautiful son. Keep on doing it for all those other children and always remember you were a big part of his 10 years without knowing it. I’m sure there are many more out there.

    10. I reminds me “Attack Of The 50ft Woman”.
Well, except that Mike’s not a woman.

      Very disconcerting nonetheless…

    11. Didn’t just a little part of you want to take advantage of the venue and the huge captive audience and belt out an aria when you got that mic in your hand?

    12. I don’t think it mattered how you looked. I know all the boys and leaders in the visitor area loved what you had to say, expecially my youngest son. Thanks for all that you do.
