The Red River Valley is located on the border of Minnesota and North Dakota. There are over 1100 position to fill for the sugar beet harvest which are at any of the 38 sugar beet receiving stations.

Few agricultural events involve such a community effort as does the Red River Valley’s sugarbeet harvest. Each fall, well over one thousand people reschedule their regular lives for a couple weeks to work the sugarbeet piling operations at American Crystal’s receiving stations.

People come from all walks of life to participate in what has been called “the largest harvest of a perishable crop in the world.

Money is the prime motivation for working the harvest * it can pay over $2,000 in a short period of time. But there are other reasons. Many enjoy the challenge and feeling of job well done along with the camaraderie and friendships they establish.

    1. I grew up in beet country . My husband would take his 2 weeks vacation and haul beets to have extra cash for hunting, a project, whatever. Our kids took turns riding in the truck with dad and my folks would take the kids so I could ride too. Ahhh, the memories.
